This is like tearing a book in two, selling the first half and never publishing the rest. There is some potential for a second half, but I doubt it will ever happen. This is mostly a monster mash, which we’ve seen any number of times before. While I’m not normally one to criticize a film for a lack of sex, this also lacks the severely transgressive or original qualities which made the original infamous. Even up to that point, this is problematic in a bunch of way, not least that Monaka is almost a minor character, and it appears to be a sequel in little more than name. Really: WTF? On its own, this is such an entirely pointless release, you have to wonder what happened. Which is pretty much where it ends, after a first battle between Monaka and him. A cover-up ensues, despite a trail of corpses, and Monaka is given her next mission: to kill the monster, unaware that it’s actually her father. After a firefight, Doi and his team bail out as the station disintegrataes, but the monster that Monaka’s father has become, is also on their craft, which crash-lands – conveniently right in her neighbourhood.

However, it appears a combination of factors such as radiation, results in the astronauts mutating into monstrous creatures. His space-station is visited by Kōichi Doi, a researcher investigating ways to preserve bone density in zero-G. Monaka’s father is an astronaut, who has been in space for years. In between tracking down and killing paedophiles, she has a regular identity as a klutzy waitress at a cafe, where he co-worker Mukai (Okamura) protects her from the sleazy patrons. We’re a decade on from the events of the original Kite, and it seems Sawa has – without explanation – morphed into Monaka (Inoue). Oh, and speaking of mad scientists, there’s one of those in here too. Six years on, that still hasn’t materialized, making this about as appetizing as a half-cooked chicken. If so, he clearly got bored and drifted off while the project was half complete, because this ends in a way which doesn’t so much suggest another part, as demand it unconditionally.
KITE ANIME MOVIE
It is an experience you will not soon forget.“Half a star deducted, for being only half a movie.”Īnd not a very good movie at that, suffering from such multiple personality disorder, it sometimes feels that two completely different anime were spliced together in some mad scientist’s laboratory. On the other hand, if you have no such inhibitions or are capable of judging a movie’s quality based on its merits and not shock value, then I would highly recommend watching Kite. Forcing anime upon yourself is never good idea, and that is doubly important in Kite’s case. Indeed, if you are new to anime or are otherwise sensitive to such material then perhaps Kite is not something you should subject yourself to. Music in general in Kite is just as good as the animation quality, and creates a nice, dark atmosphere with just a hint of jazz influence with its various saxophone solos.īe advised that although I feel Kite’s overall quality justifies the extreme violence and sex present in the film, your mileage may vary.

Gun shots, explosions, blood hitting the floor…the sound effects are fantastic. If not just seeing the exploding heads makes you whine, then hearing high quality sound that accompanies it will. Every character in the movie seems to have a gun that fires exploding bullets, and no matter how many times you seen it happen, heavily detailed limbs, chests, and heads bursting in showers of blood will always make you wince. This high quality of animation takes on a more sinister note in relation to the various intense battle scenes. Characters move fluidly, are highly detailed, and otherwise look very, very cool.

Kite sports some of the most amazing animation I have ever seen. Make no mistake, there is no time for comic relief. Indeed, you will never be anywhere other than the edge of your seat for the entire movie. The plot itself moves at a very brisk pace with little or no distractions. Sawa views Akai as her guardian, but the true extent of their relationship is something quite darker. The protagonist, Sawa, is an orphaned teenaged girl who started working for Akia after her parents were brutally murdered. Akai, secretly runs a small organization which kills child molesters, rapists, and and other such criminals when the courts aren’t able to. The premise of Kite is that a crime scene investigator, Mr. : Kite (English Dubbed Version) : Konami Yoshida, Goro Shibusawa, Shingo Oyamada, Yasuomi Umetsu, Scott Houle, Yasuomi Umetsu, Yasuomi Umetsu, Osamu Ecchu. Is Kite something everyone should watch? Absolutely. Is Kite something everyone can appreciate? No. Kite gets inside your head and stays there long after the 51 minutes it takes you to watch it are over. Reading no amount of reviews about this highly engrossing movie will stifle the shock and horror you feel after watching just the first fifteen minutes.
